6/11 - 6/12: Games to watch

Not a lot of big name action this weekend, but the pre-regionals games will be kicking off later this month. Also of note is the closed no-minors test bout taking place. I plan on having my June rankings up soon.

Also, I have a new rule. If I can't find accurate information on your team, I'm not going to post information about it here. I don't want to spread misinformation to the growing reader base that we have here. It isn't fair to you or them. If you don't see your game listed here, and you want it listed, feel free to email me about it. It is likely I was unaware of your team if it is new or has a small presence online, or that you did not have up to date information. On top of all that, it takes a lot of time and work to dig up information on some teams, including me searching through Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace for scores and schedules. Lastly, if you see something incorrect here please e-mail me or leave a comment here. I'm really nice despite the picture, and will try to get a correction ASAP.

And lastly, a correction.

The article "6/4 - 6/5: Games to watch, and a bit more" originally stated that Springfield (-SC/-FTS) had defeated the Oklahoma Victory Dolls (17SC/54FTS). This is not true, Springfield defeated Oklahoma City Roller Derby. This is totally my mistake, as I have had confused the two teams for quite some time. Look for further information about the Oklahoma Victory Dolls in future articles.

Carolina All-Stars (7E/14FTS) vs. Tallahassee's Capital Punishment (14SC/56FTS)
Why you should watch: The only two ranked WFTDA teams going head to head this weekend!
Prediction: A few years ago Carolina was one of THE teams in WFTDA, but then they didn't make it to the Championship last year. They haven't lost a single game this year, but other than a close 10 point win over Tampa (7SC/29FTS), they haven't played any truly difficult opponents yet. Tallahassee has been playing above expectations, defeating rival Jacksonville (-SC/59FTS), and playing close loses to Memphis (11SC/67FTS) and Knoxville (12SC/58FTS). Their recent loss to Atlanta (5SC/27FTS) will probably be similar to this game.
Carolina 200 - Tallahassee 85

Classic City Rollergirls (Apprentice) vs. Atlanta's Sake Tuyus (Atlanta Home Team)
Why you should watch: Two Georgia teams throw down in a double header
Prediction: Though a newer Apprentice league they are under the good guidance of Atlanta as they move up in the world of Derby. The Sake Tuyus are a home team for Atlanta, who certainly has peppered the team with experience and top notch training. Though a home team, they have beaten other Apprentice leagues before, and I expect them to do it again.
Classic City 75 - Sake Tuyus 140

Oklahoma City Roller Derby (-FTS/105FTS) vs. Kansas City Plan B (Kansas City B-team)
Why you should watch: New WFTDA Member OKC takes on the South Central #1's B-team
Prediction: Though Oklahoma City is currently one of the lowest ranking teams on Flat Track Stats, one should never underestimate an opponent. They have a tough schedule for such a new team, and teams that play difficult schedules tend to emerge strong teams in the next season. Kansas City is a power house of a league, and the people who play on their B-team could probably play on many other leagues travel teams. Expect Kansas City to win, but both sides should learn a lot.
Oklahoma City 45 - Kansas City Plan B - 160

Tulsa (Oklahoma) vs. Kansas City Plan B (Kansas City B-team)
Prediction: Tulsa has already prevailed against Central Arkansas twice this year, as well as Route 66, among others. What I said for Plan B above, applies here, but I am going to pick Tulsa for the win.
Tulsa 180 - Kansas City Plan B 120

Capital City (Kansas) vs. ICT Rollergirls (20SC/78FTS)
Prediction: ICT has had only one win this year, though they have played some tough games against Green Country (9SC/36FTS) and No Coast (6SC/31FTS) already. Old Capital City hasn't played many games, but they do have a win over the Kansas City Plan B under their belt. This should be a good close game, but I think ICT will win.
Capital City 120 - ICT 150

Hub City Hattiesburg Hooligans (Apprentice) vs. Emerald Coast (Florida)
Prediction: Both of these teams played a month ago, and Emerald Coast emerged the victor by a large margin, 193 - 71. I see no reason for this game to turn out much different, though Hub City is playing at home advantage this game.
Hub City 80 - Emerald Coast 170

Prediction: Crescent Wenches win
